Regional EDRR Program
CRISP is asking for the public’s help in the Capital Region to report and help address the following high-priority newer invasive species.
Current plants in our regional EDRR program:
- Knotweed Species
- Giant Hogweed
- Policeman’s Helmet (Saanich alert sheet)
- Blessed Milk Thistle (Saanich alert sheet)
- Scotch Thistle
- Garlic Mustard
The District of Saanich provides additional public information on priority species: Saanich Invasive Resources
CRISP provides support to the Province and to local residents to address species of provincial concern. These include:
- Shiny Geranium (Geranium lucidum)
- Invasive Ants (such as European Fire Ants/ Myrmica rubra)
- Other provincial priority species
CRISP local governments and partners work together on a regional early detection rapid response (EDRR) program of high priority new invaders. This regional program is made possible by cooperation and funding from the local governments and the Province (Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations). The Ministry of Transportation is another partner working with CRISP for EDRR species on their lands and supporting regional efforts.
